Amethyst Mountain Walkthrough

In part one of WolfQuest, you are a two year old gray wolf born in the Northern Range of Yellowstone National Park. Your goal is to survive until you find a mate.

Before you start playing the game, you need to create your wolf! On the main menu, click Single Player, then click “New Game”. The customization menu will then appear. now, you have 5 coat options: red/grey, a grey/reddish mix, red, black, and white. Next are the red and gray bars. Move this slider to adjust the mixture of each coat colour. More grey makes a colder color, more red a warmer color.

Now choose your stat bonuses. Keep in mind that the more strength your wolf has, the less stamina and speed it will have. And the more speed your wolf has, the less stamina, and vice versa. You also have the option of choosing a male or female wolf. Finally, you can give your wolf a name.

You can hunt hares, coyotes, and elk. You can’t, however, kill grizzlies. You can try, but you will die as they are too strong and can kill you with just four hits, so be careful!

This red bar here is your health. The green bar above it is your stamina. If either one drops to 0, your wolf dies. In order to prevent dying, you must find something to eat. Now, because hunting without a mate can take forever, eat any elk carcass you can find to keep your strength up. Hunting hares also works, but only gives you a small amount of health.

Now I'll teach you how to find a mate! You must first battle a wolf from each of the three packs in Amethyst Mountain: Slough, Specimen, and Druid. To find a wolf, go into scent view (V key) and look for yellow trails like the one in the screenshot below. Follow them until you see a wolf.

I recommend battling wolves in the order of the territories I listed as the Slough wolf pack has weaker members. Druids are the strongest and most aggressive, and some even fight to the death.

After you've battled with a wolf in each territory, go back to the Slough wolves’ territory. There, you should find a dispersal wolf. If it is the opposite gender of your wolf, you should do the correct actions to make that wolf your mate. Walk a little way away from where you saw the wolf, and go back. Then another wolf will appear there. Keep trying until you see a wolf you like. Then approach it.
